Le 11 septembre, dans le district de Thathom au Laos, le barrage Nam Ao Dam a cédé alors qu'il était en cours de construction. En dehors de dégats important, fort heureusement aucune victime n'est à déplorer dans cette région relativement peu habitée et la plupart des fermiers ont eu le temps de se mettre en sécurité.
