Peanutweeter Brings Peanuts, Twitter Together With Hilarious Results

Everyone has at least one funny person they follow on Twitter just for the lulz, but sometimes the things they say would be even more laughable if they weren’t constantly spewing from the same avatar.

Peanutweeter changes that. The @Peanutweeter Tumblr blog and Twitter feed fulfill a very simple idea: Matching somewhat random Twitter posts with less-random Peanuts comics. The results are hilarious.

“The site arose from the concept that the amusing and sometimes outrageous tweets out there would be even funnier or sometimes darker if they came from someone that everyone could identify with,” site creator T. Jason Agnello said in an e-mail to Wired.com.

To find the tweets, Agnello scours his own Twitter feed and engages in “follower-hopping” to locate messages from people followed by the folks in his Twitter timeline. (He occasionally picks a tweet or two from a current theme or trending topic.) Then he pairs the tweet with a frame from Charles Schulz’s beloved comic strip that best suits the sentiment.

“Although there are a numer of ‘Twelebs’ on the site, it’s a treat to find people who are awesome but not Twitter-famous,” said Agnello, a Washington state resident who spent almost a decade in tech support and also runs the similarly humorous Twitter feed Death Star Helpdesk (@deathstarhelp).

For the gallery above, Wired.com asked Agnello to pick his favorites from the more than 300 items that have been posted since the site went up in April. We also added a few faves of our own.

Go ahead, laugh yourself into an ugly cry.
