The iPhone Dev Team has recently released Redsn0w 0.9.7b5 which is now available for download, and will jailbreak the iPad, iPhone 4, and iPod Touch 4G running iOS 4.2.1. The new iteration of 0.9.7b5 brings fixes to Bluetooth and sandbox related issues that were hanging for a while. The only still known bug for the Redsn0w jailbreak utility is currently related to Skype and the iPhone Dev Team is probably working on fixing that in the next release.
The new version of Redsn0w requires access to the iOS 4.2b3 firmware and only those enrolled in the iPhone Developer program have legitimate access to the IPSW. If you rely on the Ultrasn0w carrier unlock, please do not use this beta version of the Redsn0w tool. If your device is currently already jailbroken with one of the previous betas, we would recommend do a fresh restore first. The iOS 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak utility is Mac only but the next update should be bringing in Windows support. Currently there is a Windows version of Redsn0w 0.9.7b5 but the team hasn’t released it yet as it’s very slow compared to the Mac version. We’ll be sure to keep you updated though as soon as it is released.
