Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 delayed yet again!

A recent tweet from @comex of the iPhone Dev team suggests that he may wait

for the release of the Verizon iPhone 4 before releasing his untethered jailbreak exploit. Now, the entire iPhone community has to wait till Verizon iPhone 4 hits the shelves on February 10th, 2011. The statement arrived after Verizon iPhone 4 was announced and Apple seeded iOS 4.3 beta.

i0n1c: so @comex is not waiting for the next iOS for untethering?

comex: @i0n1c I don’t know, I think I’m waiting for the Verizon iPhone.

It appears that @comex does not want to waste his untethered jailbreak exploit and want to break into iOS 4.2.1 knowing iOS 4.2.5 and iOS 4.3 are right around the corner. However, using MuscleNerd’s backup plan, Redsn0w can be used for now for an untethered solution for iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak for iPad, iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS (old bootrom), iPod Touch 2G (old bootrom).

We have also created step-by-step guides on how to perform a quick boot using Redsn0w which you can find below:

Interestingly, after an ongoing delay, the Chronic Dev-Team has already decided to work on Greenpois0nthat will support untethered Jailbreak.

While we’re not sure about the exact status of final untethered solution, we do know that they are almost ready for release. So, please be patient! And as usual, for all future jailbreak and unlock new and info follow us on Twitter and/or subscribe to our RSS Feed.
