MacRumors is currently reporting that they have received a screenshot in which their source claims is from a Best Buy inventory database, which provides some interesting information. You can see in the screenshots below, Best Buy’s inventory database has entries for 16GB and 32GB white iPhone 4 models, which has in-stock dates of February 27th. Currently, MacRumors is reporting the following:

We’ve received information today from a source sharing the below screenshot claimed to be from a Best Buy inventory database showing both 16 GB and 32 GB white iPhone 4 models listed with expected in-stock dates of February 27th. The SKU and model numbers associated with the entries are identical to those previously used by Best Buy when it was taking pre-orders for the white iPhone 4 prior to last summer’s launch, pre-orders that were canceled when Apple delayed availability of the white versions.

Engadget is also reporting that their trusted source has sent them a screenshot from Vodafone Germany’s inventory system, which has entries for 16GB and 32 GB white iPhone 4 models as well. Their source expects the white iPhone to be launched soon.

Just to recap for everyone, when Apple launched the iPhone 4 last year, everyone was told it would be arriving in two color options – Black and White. The black iPhone has been launched and is now fairly common, but there is no sign of the white iPhone, which was supposed to be here the second half of July initially. Apple later announced that the availability of the iPhone 4 would be delayed to “later this year” (ie. later in 2010) The company then delayed the release of the white iPhone 4 once again until Spring 2011.

We have heard several speculations for the delay. Some industry observers had indicated potential quality control issues arising due to the white coloring on the front glass panel of the iPhone 4 – while some others observed that the “Antennagate” issue that plagued the iPhone 4 was the reason for the delay. It was also speculated that the reason for the delay was due to the back light leaking out through the edges of the glass to the back casing of the device. According to an insider who was spotted with the white iPhone 4, the shade of white on the home button of the phone isn’t matching with the rest of the front panel. Apple’s supplier’s apparently have been unable to resolve the issue, which has resulted in the delay.

There were also rumors about the white iPhone 4 being canceled as well. When we last checked, many anticipating for the white iPhone 4 had given up and bought the black iPhone 4 or sought alternatives. Are any of you still waiting for it? Let us know in the comments below!
