Apple Releasing iOS 4.3 With Release Of iPad 2

Apple announced today at their iPad event that the iPad 2 would ship with a new version of iOS. Version iOS 4.3 is an update that builds on software additions found in previous versions of iOS 4. Apple highlighted many new features in the upcoming software update. Amongst those were improvement in the performance of Safari which will be using the enhanced “Nitro JavaScript engine.” Apple’s Scott Forstall add’s that Safari’s performance will be “significantly increased” using the new engine. Another feature that is included in iOS 4.3 is iTunes Home Sharing, allowing a user to stream their entire iTunes library to their iDevice via Wi-Fi. As expected, AirPlay will now be available for all applications, including audio and video played within Safari. For the iPad, iOS 4.3 will allow users to choose a preference for their switch, they can use it for mute or as a rotation lock. As expected, the GSM iPhone 4 will also be gaining the personal hotspot feature which first appeared on the CDMA iPhone 4 in iOS 4.2.6. The new iteration of Apple’s OS system, iOS 4.3 will be available on the original iPad, the iPhone 4 (GSM version), the iPhone 3GS, and the iPod Touch 3rd and 4th generation, as will be shipping with the iPad 2 on March 11th.
