Taking a closer look at the details released about iOS 4.3, it’s official and understood that the iPhone 3G will no longer receive further OS updates from this point onward. Apple’s website for it’s iOS 4.3 Software Update, lists the compatible devices as the 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 3G and 4G. Nowhere does it mention the iPhone 3G on the list, which means there won’t be any update for the 3G version, something that is likely to continue from now on. There is also no support for the Verizon iPhone either. With several people complaining about iOS 4.x on the 3G, it makes sense to see them drop the support, but it could leave many users displeased.
