[How To] Enable Ribbon UI In Windows 8 7850 Milestone 1 Build

We have been sharing quite lot of information related to Windows 8. Thanks to Windows enthusiasts for digging into code and uncovering series of new Windows 8 features. Here is yet another interesting feature unlocked in Windows 8 Milestone 1 build. Thanks to “Naïveuser” of MyDigitalLife forum. Despite of Windows 8 Build 7850 being very early build doesn’t stop Windows enthusiasts from exploring hidden stuff inside leaked build. Though not many features of Windows 8 are complete or can be found in Milestone 1 but still they managed to get Portable Workspace, New Task manage working. A simple registry hack needed to enable Ribbon UI on Windows 8: “OK. This may be my last work on M1 but I managed to get Explorer Ribbon working, here it is create such a key in registry: HKEY_CLASS_ROOT\CLSID\{4F12FF5D-D319-4A79-8380-9CC80384DC08} create a string value in this key called “AppID”, set its value to “{9198DA45-C7D5-4EFF-A726-78FC547DFF53}” now start a new explorer window have to fireup visual studio to get this one right, phew. https://tinypic.com/r/2e2m05v/7” Read more You may also like to read: Authors:
