The iPhone Dev Team has announced a new, untethered jailbreak for iOS devices running 4.2.1, including the iPod
In the description of the video (below), which was used MuscleNerd specifies the kernel version 4.2 beta 3 of IOS in order to successfully run the untethered jailbreak, since it is using exploits discovered by comex and used in previous jailbreaking tools they will not be using any new exploits.
Nevertheless, MuscleNerd states that comex is developing a more effective method. But for now this is a backup plan. More details to come. And last but not least, all ios DEVICES will be supported in this upcoming jailbreak.
This untethered jailbreak does have its advantages, however: it wastes no current exploits, and could be leveraged against future jailbreaks on newer firmware releases. No news on when we might see it released, however, but you can watch the hack in action in the video below:
