According to Digitimes, Apple’s iPad will will be featuring an LCD display with BLUs (Back Light Units) from supplier Coretronic. These backlight units will reportedly be used in conjunction with LCD displays built by LG and Chimei Innolux.

This rumor suggests that the next-generation iPad will not have an OLED display, and will be fundamentally similar to the backlit, IPS-style LCD it currently uses.

Late last month, DigiTimes suggested that Tripod Technology and TTM Technologies will supply at least the initial run of Printed Circuit Boards for the next iPad, while Taiwanese supplier Largan Precision selected as the sole lens module supplier for the iPad 2, with shipments rumored to begin in the first quarter of 2011.
