ReBirth, created by Properllerhead Software has recently been released for the iPad with a price tag of $14.99. It is a powerful synth app that successfully recreates legendary Roland synthesizes like the TB-303, TR-808, and the TR-909. These synthesizes helped define the sound of early techno music and are still being used until this day. Users will have the degree of control that was previously not possible by using the iPad’s Multi-Touch display. Everyone will have the control of more synthesizes knobs at a time, allowing for a more customized sound.

The app also makes it easy to share your musical creations with the world, including Facebook integration and the ability to send songs through email. You can also save the songs as mp3 files and share them with others as well. The look of the app can be changed as well with the ability to load a new skin. At first glance the app looks more like a toy as opposed to a full-featured synth app, but don’t let the looks get to you, ReBirth packs a solid punch. The look and feel of the classic Roland synthesizer’s are there but there is much more under the hood as well. ReBirth also includes a pattern-controlled filter, a distortion unit, a compressor, mixer, pattern sequencer, and much more. You can spend days with the app and just scratch the surface of what you can do with all the features it packs.

ReBirth also has a long history in the recording industry. You have most likely heard ReBirth in all sorts of songs and probably never even knew about it. It dates back to 1997 when it was nitially released on the Mac. Since hen, numerous recording artists have used ReBirth in every imaginable genre of music.
