This year at CES 2011 it’s expected that tablets are going to be a hot topic for most of the big name companies, and it looks like LG is ready to lace up the gloves and step into the ring. Sources are reporting that LG has plans for keeping up with Samsung, but also look to be aiming higher in the tablet market according to Korea times. LG is looking to start off strong with their version of the Android-based device featuring an 8.9-inch display.

Rumors of LG coming out with a tablet aren’t anything new, as earlier this year it was believed that LG was planning on releasing one. But after looking at the options available, the company decided to wait for a more tablet-friendly mobile Operating System. With Honeycomb on the horizon it only makes sense that “industry sources” would be hearing about LG speaking more adamantly about their desire to enter the tablet market. And with CES 2011 upon us it would be the perfect time to make such an announcement.

Even if LG throws us all for a loop at CES and remains quiet about plans for a tablet there’s still more good news to look forward too. The company is planning on showing off its auto-stereoscopic 3D mobile displays, which would make 3D available for people on the go but still want to enjoy 3D. What do you think about LG stepping up to the challenge of putting out a successful tablet?
