With being just a few days into 2011, Samsung is already reminiscing the big year they had in 2010. Between sales of its Galaxy S smartphone and the Galaxy Tab Android tablet alone, Samsung’s mobile division ended up experiencing quite some success and the company finished strong. With just two weeks left in 2010, Samsung announced that it had sold 9.3 million Galaxy S smartphones globally. Recently, the South Korean giant reportedly confirms that it surpassed its goal of 10 million units sold in 2010. Selling 700,000 units in two weeks is a pretty huge feat, especially considering that one of the weeks was the last week of the year. With Christmas landing just prior and New Year’s fast approaching, the last week of December is typically not a huge week for consumer electronic sales.

The United States was reportedly Samsung’s biggest market for the Galaxy S, having sold 4 million units across North America itself in 2010. Europe came in second place with 2.5 million units followed by Asia with another 2 million. Although the company has experienced success in 2010, they have a lot of work to do in the future if its Galaxy S successors hope to match the astonishing pace set by the sleek Android phone, but with the ability to appease to multiple carriers like no other, we have high hopes for the company going into 2011.
