The famous iPhone hacker Sherif Hashim has recently released a video which shows an untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch along with the unlock for the iPhone 4. The video was shown in a response to a Twitter post, which linked Hashim to a WordPress blog, asking him to confirm the validity of the blog post. The WordPress blog said the following:

THEY DON’T KNOW HOW TO UNLOCK IT”…”It’s because Apple finally figured it out. They’ve found a way to shut him up”… “So until a new bunch of people, smarter people, show up on the jailbreaking/unlocking scene, we can wave goodbye to iPhone_dev, musclenerd and the infamous sherrif

After reading the blog post, Sherif Hashim replied with the following message to the Tweet:

roles are mixed up, faulty and funny, untethered 4.2.1 isn’t a joke https://www.twitvid.com/F5MUL , unlock follows when ready

The unlock for the iPhone 4 will be following the release of the untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 and it seems like it is ready. As of right now the iPhone Dev Team has released its backup plan for the untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak for iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch. This version released for this jailbreak is Redsn0w 0.9.7 and is in beta (with several versions already improving bugs and issues). It shouldn’t be too much longer until the final iteration is released at this rate. @P0sixninja should also be releasing the GreenPois0n tool at some point in the near future according to his recent tweets. Unfortunately for many, @Comex‘s JailbreakMe 3.0 was rumored to release first on Christmas, than delayed to December 30th, with more recent news pointing towards @Comex saving the untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3. We’ll keep you updated as more information pours in.
