Turtle Beach is looking to blow us away at CES 2011 tomorrow with their new Ear Force PX5 Programmable Wireless Surround Sound Headset. The headset includes an impressive list of features. Turtle Beach is so confident in the headset the company is calling it “the most technologically-advanced headset ever designed for PS3 and Xbox 360 gaming,” and we’re hoping it lives up to the claim. One impressive feature that stands out is the fully programmable digital signal processor that will allow the user to customize the experience all the way down to which sounds they want emphasized. This doesn’t mean turning up sound effects over background music, this means you can increase the levels of footsteps, bullet casings hitting the floor or weapons reloading which could potentially give the player that extra edge needed to win. Using a USB PC interface gives the option to program multiple configurations which are stored directly on the headset for faster retrieval.

The PX5 is the first headset to offer a dual radio setup. One controls the game sound while the second radio would be handling Bluetooth chat via the Playstation 3. This setup will allow you to take phone calls and/or listen to Bluetooth-ready MP3 players all while you’re getting your game on. “Turtle Beach has always been recognized for technological innovation. We pioneered the console gaming headset industry by launching the first stereo XBOX headset, were the first with wireless gaming headsets and the first with innovative features to enhance the gaming experience, like Chat Boost. With the introduction of the programmable PX5, we’re poised to again revolutionize the gaming headset market.” says Carmine Bonanno, President and CEO. “By allowing gamers to customize their audio environment, the PX5 gives them an opportunity to take charge of their console gaming experience in ways that have never before been available.” The headset definitely looks like its worth $250 on paper but we’ll see tomorrow when CES 2011 starts. If every thing that Turtle Beach is claiming proves true, is the headset something that you would consider even with the steeper price tag?
