Today RIM
RIM’s new Built for Blackberry program aims to make sure that verified and approved third party manufacturing partners deliver specifically designed accessories and peripherals for their devices. RIM not only details the program to offer “technical, strategic, and marketing support” to members of the program, along with a Built for BlackBerry logo that will start to appear on accessory packaging. As of right now, RIM has not released any requirements that third party manufacturers will have to meet to be accepted into the program, and most importantly, if RIM plans to take a certain percentage of the sales in exchange for manufacturers using the Built for Blackberry logo, similar to what Apple does with their Made for iPod/iPhone program.
