• Currently the jailbreak for the iOS 4.1.1 (4.2.1) software is “tethered.” (For those of you don’t already know, the tethered jailbreak requires the Apple TV to be connected to a computer for a brief moment during startup). – Seas0nPass also features a tethered boot tool.
• Seas0nPass makes this process as easy as possible but we do not recommend continuing unless you are comfortable with the whole process.

Requirements

• Download iTunes 10.1.1 and install it (You can check for updates through Software Update located in the Apple menu as well)
• Download Seas0nPass
• A Micro USB cable will also be required to complete the jailbreak.

How to Jailbreak Apple TV 2G iOS 4.2.1 with Seas0nPass:

Step 1:

Unzip the ‘Seas0nPass.zip’ file and launch Seas0nPass from the downloaded Seas0npass file.

Step 2:

If your Apple TV 2G is not yet jailbroken, select “Create IPSW”. (If it is already jailbreak and you just need to do a “tethered boot” scroll down)

Step 3:

Seas0nPass will download the latest Apple TV 2G firmware at this point. This firmware will be used to create a custom “jailbroken” firmware file. (You can also download Apple TV 2G firmware iOS 4.2.1 by clicking here)

Step 4:

When asked to, connect your Apple TV 2G using a Micro USB cable (leave the power disconnected) and hold both the “Menu” and the “Play/Pause” buttons for 7 seconds.

Step 5:

iTunes will then automatically open and start the restore process at this point.

Once the restore process is complete, your Apple TV 2G will be jailbroken. Now you need to perform a “tethered boot” on your Apple TV 2G. To do this, follow the tethered boot instructions here.

That’s it, you are done! You have successfully “Tether Booted” your Apple Tv 2G on a custom iOS 4.2.1 firmware.
