As rumors continue to fly about the unreleased PSP2, most are being brought down a notch to bring the claims closer to reality. But one report by MCV is creating a lot of buzz regardless of it being confirmed or not, the report states that Sony is telling developers and publishers that the PSP2 is just as powerful as the Playstation 3.
With the unsuccessful sales of the PSP Go, it isn’t too surprising that Sony would make some almost too good to be true claims to try to make the device more attractive. The claims come at a time where the focus on mobile gaming being so high, Apple becoming a dominating factor to consider, and Nintendo’s 3DS about to be launch. Sony needs to show that the PSP2 can not only compete, but can also blow the competition away. The same report says the device will not only be backed by downloadable content, but there will also be physical media available as well. It’ll be interesting to see if games being sold in brick and mortar stores will have the positive impact that Sony is hoping for. The PSP2 is looking at a release date of some time in the 4th quarter this year so it won’t be too long before the rumors either gain some backing or are proven false. Do you think that there is any real chance of these rumors being true or are they just hyped up claims to create pre-launch buzz?
