Because there’s no 4.3 beta for iPhone3G, it’s effectively unlocked for life via the 06.15 ultrsn0w unlock

We have already posted our complete step-by-step guide on how to jailbreak the iPhone 3G on iOS 4.2.1 with RedSn0w and then unlock it with Ultrasn0w 1.2. During this process you will end up updating the iPhone 3G’s baseband to 06.15.00, you can follow our guide posted here to downgrade the baseband back to 05.13.xx if you plan on taking your iPhone back to Apple, or this will permanently void your warranty for obvious reasons.
