With the big reveal of the $249.99 price tag, the Nintendo 3DS is finally official, now there’s only one question left, how much will the games cost? A total of 30+ titles have been announced to hit shelves coming to us all the way up to the time of E3. Even though the company has given us quite a lot of info on the games themselves, they are remaining pretty silent about which games will be “launch titles”. Hush-hush is also Nintendo’s stance on revealing the price of the titles. But it wasn’t too difficult to get a pretty good idea of a price range we’ll see.
Currently in the US, we’re seeing retailers GameStop and Amazon as listing 3DS titles between $39.99 and $49.99. On the other side of the pond they’re seeing United Kingdom retailer Game listing prices at what seems to be a standardized price of £39.99 even though other UK retailers have some games listed at a lower price of £32.99. Joystiq looked over Amazon France, and found that games there were listed at a range from €49.95 to €59.95. With the price tags we’re seeing from all sides of the globe it seems pretty clear that Nintendo deems the increased prices fair due to the advanced graphics. But as we’ve seen in the past, gamers/consumers and video game companies don’t always see eye to eye on what advancements warrant a price jump on games. With the estimated price tags of individual titles coming out, do you think it will change the minds of people who were looking to pre-order?
