We recently reported about WhiteD00r mod which enables you to install custom iOS 4.0/4.1/4.2.1 firmware with improved performance. WhiteD00r uses iOS 3.1.3 but with the extended features of iOS 4.0 like Multitasking, Home wallpapers, Video recording, Backgrounding, New Icons from iOS 4, Voice Control and much more. Follow the step by step guide below to install the mod on your iPhone/iPodTocuh. Developer’s note: This process is safe and tested, but you are doing at your own risk. For this reason we suggest to backup your data. Anyway we absolutely racommend to make a clean installation without restoring backup. We will not provide support if this rule is not respected. How To Install WhiteD00r Custom iOS 4.2.1 On iPod touch 1G/2G, iPhone 2G/3G Step 1: Backup your data. Although this process is safe and tested. WhiteD00r does not take any responsibility if anything goes wrong. It is recommended that you make a clean installation without restoring from a backup. Step 2: Download WhiteD00r custom firmware for your device. (Click here for download links) Step 3: Now open iTunes. Select your device from left under devices. Click on RESTORE holding ALT (MacOS) or SHIFT (Windows) at the same time. This will open the file browser for your to select the downloaded WhiteD00r custom IPSW file. If you dont get the file browser try again by Click on RESTORE holding ALT (MacOS) or SHIFT (Windows) at the same time. Step 4: iTunes will install the firmware on your device (could take up to 15 minutes). You could get same errors messages during installation. After installation iTunes will ask you if you want to restore backup. Please choose “Set up a new iPhone/iPod” to improve speed and avoid strange problems. If some features don’t get enabled, reboot your device twice and update Cydia. If you are facing problems, read the questions here.
