Apple announced iPad’s successor, the iPad 2, yesterday in an event held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. Since the announcement we have all thinking about the iOS 4.3 jailbreak for iPad 2, iPhone and iPod Touch. Chronic Dev Team is set to test SHAtter jailbreak exploit for the upcoming firmware. As we all know that iPad 2 is a complete new hardware, chances are that Apple might have patched the bootrom based Limera1n exploit in this new hardware. If that’s indeed the case, then iPad 2 users wont be able to jailbreak until and unless the leaked SHAtter exploit is also not patched. But if SHAtter is also patched, then someone will have to find another bootrom exploit in the new hardware for us to jailbreak it on iOS 4.3. iPhone developer and hacker Joshua Hill aka @p0sixninja, who happens to be the guy behind the latest GreenPois0n RC5/6 release hopes at least SHAtter is still in iPad 2: p0sixninja: We’re crossing our fingers and hoping that at least SHAtter is still in iPad 2. For those who are unaware of SHAtter jailbreak tool, back at the time when iOS 4.1 was released, an iPhone hacker named pod2g developed SHAtter exploit by collaborating and taking help of p0sixninja who is Chronic Dev Team member. SHAtter was preserved for next generation devices including iPhone 5 and new version iPad 2. iPhone Dev Team is also working for the iOS 4.3 jailbreak. Apparently they are in the middle of their work. Its good to see Chronic Dev Team already has this exploit which is said to very strong. We will have to wait till March 11th for the final word.
