Leaked Photo of iOS 5 Spotted In The Wild

TechCrunch has posted a photo that shows Twitter notifications integrated into the iOS status bar. The site is unsure if it’s an authentic image; however, their sources say it’s the “right idea”. Again, no clue if it’s actually real or not, but the idea might be right. Notifications that come down from the top bar could be how Apple ends up doing things in iOS 5. After all, this would mimic already existing functionality — when tethering, a blue strip appears along the top; when on the phone, it’s a green strip. Might notifications (or at least Twitter notifications) produce a gray strip? The screenshot above also depicts iOS 5?s rumored social integration, which while it doesn’t look as fancy as it did on artist-made concepts, it’s closer to what one would expect from Apple. There’s also the possibility that all notifications within the system will look like this, which would be way less intrusive than the current pop-up notifications. We can’t tell how users would be able to interact with said notifications, but we’ll soon find out. Apple is known to hand out unreleased software to a few select developers so that they can get their software ready in time for Apple’s official unveiling, and to assist the company in introducing the software itself. Some companies got to show off software with support for then-unreleased features in the past: that could only be achieved by delivering new versions of iOS ahead of time. WWDC will kick off at 10 AM PST, (1 PM EST or 6 PM GMT). As usual, stay tuned for more news and info on the topic by following us on Facebook, Twitter, and/or subscribing to our RSS feed. Authors:
