CyanogenMod 6.1, Android’s most popular ROM, is finally released after being in its release candidate stages for over a month. Cyanogen himself tweeted the news, but also mentioned one small caveat: Samsung devices (ie. the Galaxy S) are not included with no ETA for them either.

Cyanogen said the following in his tweets:

6.1 -STABLE is out! - https://bit.ly/hPLamT – Get it via ROM Manager or head over to our forums for downloads :) #cm6

No, there’s no release for Samsung phones, and no ETA on one. Sorry.

For those of you who were looking for the Drunk Mode feature which was popular in the RC version of the Mod, it is nowhere to be found unfortunately. Downloads seem to currently be going slow at the moment and likely will be until mirrors go up. If that isn’t enough to deter you, then head on over to CMHQ and navigate to your device of choice and flash away! A friendly reminder to those of you who plan to flash / upgrade: you may have issues after updating from a previous ROM or earlier version of CyanogenMod. If you do, try backing up with the Titanium and wiping dalvik and cache.

Let us know how the flashing / upgrading goes by dropping us a comment below! Stay tuned for more news and info on the topic by following us on Twitter and/or subscribing to our RSS feed.
